E-Security involves the design and
implementation of a risk management framework that addresses end
user authentication and access control requirements for information
systems. It is a topic that is often talked about but poorly understood.
E-Security is about designing a strategy
that is effective, proactive and decisive. It is also about knowing
every little detail about your company and the environment it operates
in (e.g. what business is my company really in; who are our customers;
who are our competitors; what creates customer value and repeat
sales).
Often companies think that they are
"safe" because a firewall has been installed on the network
to authenticate users and the system has been updated with latest
software patch. This is called a "false sense of security".
No company, regardless of its size is hacker proof or is exempt
from the risks of sharing information across a network.
